Please note: We specialise in long-term rentals. The minimum rental period for all our vehicles is 30 days. We do not offer short-term rentals.

The Costa Del Sol's premier independent source for used and approved long-term car rentals. Our journey began in 2015, and since then, we've proudly established ourselves as the go-to choice for affordable and dependable transportation in the region.

Booking Information:


  • Please note: All bookings require a €48 booking fee. This fee is processed upon vehicle confirmation and is fully refundable if your requested dates are unavailable.
  • All rentals are subject to a mandatory €24.95 fee. This covers additional breakdown cover, bank charges, card charges, and subscription costs. This fee is refundable if the rental does not proceed.
  • All rentals include a free extra driver, so you can share the driving and enjoy your trip even more.
  • We accept all major credit and debit cards for your convenience. We do not accept cash payments. Please note that providing a credit card is not mandatory.
  • We use a 3D secure payment processor for your security. If you choose a 30-day rolling contract, your card will be automatically billed monthly.
  • A damage deposit is required for each vehicle category. This deposit also acts as the insurance excess in the event of an at-fault claim.
  • Please note: As a long-term rental company, we do not offer Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).


Flexible Contract Options: We offer two convenient contract types to suit your needs:


  • Fixed-Term Contract: Ideal if you know your exact rental dates. Choose your start and end date, and enjoy your rental with peace of mind. No notice period is required, but you can extend your rental if needed.
  • Rolling 30-Day Contract: Perfect for those with more flexible travel plans. Rent for a minimum of 30 days, with the option to extend on a rolling basis. A 14-day notice period is required for ending or shortening the rental period.


Airport Transfers: Please note that we do not operate directly from Malaga Airport. However, we work with a reliable private airport transfer company who can pick you up from Malaga Airport and bring you directly to our office. Please contact us for further details and to arrange this service.

    With Purple Cars long term car hire there is no lengthy paperwork procedure; all we need is a copy of your driving license, your passport, and the €48 booking fee paid by credit/debit card and we organise the rest for you!

  • Ongoing support with our Long Term Car Hire

    Our long term car hire rental gives you complete peace of mind. All of our vehicles are well maintained, we will recall the vehicle every six months for a routine inspection and we also take care of the annual ITV for you. The best part of this is that it is all included in the price!

    With unbeatable prices our long term car hire is more affordable than short-term leasing.


    Our long term car hire rentals can be returned to us with just 14 days notice period. Should your circumstances change; subject to availability we can change your long term car hire vehicle at any time for you. This means long term car hire is extremely flexible, unlike expensively priced fixed leasing contracts.

  • What is your minimum rental period on a rental car?

    Our minimum term is 1 month.

  • What is the required minimum age to rent a car?

    25 (Drivers under 25, will incur an additional premium)

  • What is the maximum age?

    70 years old.

  • Is the insurance included?

    Full insurance with excess is included your damages deposit acts and the insurance excess in the event of an at-fault claim this is your maximum liability.

  • Do you take a deposit when I rent a car from Purple cars?

    Yes €250 – €500 depending on the vehicle and duration of the rental. The deposit is taken at the beginning of the rental and returned at the end. Your deposit acts as your insurance excess in the event of a fault claim.

  • Is it unlimited mileage?

    Yes.

  • What happens if I breakdown?

    Your policy includes 24-hour breakdown assistance. To contact the breakdown company please call +34 933 001 050 if you require an English-speaking operator, then please ask. Stay with the vehicle until the breakdown company arrives to give assistance.

  • What happens when the car is due for its service or ITV?

    It is the customer's responsibility to bring the vehicle to our service station at periodic times during the rental which you will be notified of.

  • Do you provide a courtesy car if it is needed?

    Yes, we have courtesy cars available (subject to availability)

  • Do I have to return the car each month whilst renting?

    No, you only need to return the car every 6 months for its ITV and servicing.

  • Do I pay monthly for my rental car?

    Yes – we will add your details to our secure payment platform, you will then be billed automatically monthly on your renewal date.

  • Can we drive into Gibraltar?

    Yes – we provide a “Green Card” as part of the insurance.

  • Can I take the rental vehicle outside of Spain?

    No, all cars must be kept within Andalucía unless prior written consent is granted by the company.

  • When do I get the deposit back?

    We endeavour to return deposits within 14 business days from your return date to allow us to check for outstanding speeding fines and parking fines.

  • Where do we collect the cars from?

    Duquesa or Estepona.

  • What happens if I get a speeding fine or parking ticket?

    If we receive a speeding/parking fine you will be charged the full amount of the fine + €35 admin fee (discounts for early payment do not apply) The fine amount will automatically be charged to the debit card that we hold on file without prior notice.


    A copy of the fine will be sent to you along with proof of payment.

  • Can we collect or return a car, outside of office hours?

    Yes – there is an additional fee of €25. 00

  • Are windscreen and tyres covered in the rental?

    No.

  • What documents are required?

    Passport, Driving license, proof of Spanish address, NIE/National insurance, and an IDP (international driving permit) if required.

  • Can I drive out of Andalucia?

    Our cars must be kept within Andalucía unless prior written consent is granted by the company.

  • Can we pick the car up at Malaga or Gibraltar Airport?

     We do not operate out of Malaga airport however we can recommend a private transfer company who we work closely with that can bring you to one of our meeting points.

  • How old are your cars?

    We provide used and approved second-hand rental cars which are up to 10 years old. If you are looking for something cheaper please see our sister company. runabout rentals

  • What happens if my payment fails?

    We will attempt to take the payment over 3 days if the 3rd payment fails you will be charged a late payment fee unless you have made prior arrangements with us for payment.

  • What's your fuel policy?

    You will be charged for the fuel in the vehicle and can return the vehicle empty. There are no refunds for unused fuel.
